2016 Plan of Action

Well hello.  Getting back into the swing of communication here.

So as you now know, the Urbanmonks Thinktank is out West for an indefinite amount of time.  So far Portland has been as rainy as expected, which has left many hours for reading. I just started The Power of Habit but Charles Duhigg and so far this book seems like a very insightful resource.  Also reading about 1890's-1910's Europe and Thoreau's early years.  And revisiting DeToqueville's Democracy in America.

This is a crucial year for the Urbanmonks Thinktank.  A year of growth, a year of a new street cart, a year of at least four new authors writing books for the street cart, a year of podcasts to come (yes, indeed, radio here we come).

Hoping to have our first fundraising campaign asap to raise some money for 2016 projects.  Still ironing out the vision for the organization.  Please drop me an email and let me know if you have any thoughts, impressions, questions, recommendations, etc.

Best,

Doug

Overdo Updates

To the friends of the Urbanmonks -

It has been too long.  Sorry about that.  But moving to a different city will keep you busy.  Plus, I have really taken the month or two in transition to retreat from the Urbanmonks Thinktank a bit, to hold it up in a different light, to check in with our mission, our direction.

It has been rich.  All in all, I think the Urbanmonks is in a good place, continuing to a grow a team of creative and thoughtful collaborators.

There is much to share and I will as soon as I can finish writing the The State of the Urbanmonks Thinktank. I think it will be an interesting read and I look forward to sharing with you and getting some feedback.

The most exciting news from us is that we began the first-annual Street Book Workshop.  We have some awesome talent working on some exciting topics ranging from cookbooks, children books, local history books, and cultural studies.

I hope all is well out there wherever you might be reading this.
